Amber Cole — Portfolio Copy
Amber Cole is an independent product designer with striking visuals and a homepage that said almost nothing. The brief: write about-page copy, project stories and contact text that sound like the person behind the pixels.
Overview
Amber Cole is an independent product designer with striking visuals and a homepage that said almost nothing. The brief: write about-page copy, project stories and contact text that sound like the person behind the pixels.
We interviewed Amber about favourite projects, difficult clients and design philosophy, then rebuilt every page around a warm, direct voice — confident without jargon, personal without oversharing.
The challenge
A portfolio that looked premium but read generic. Visitors admired the work and left without enquiring, because nothing told them who they would be working with or why it matters.
Approach
Voice-first interviews distilled into a one-page style sheet, then page-by-page rewrites: a story-led about page, project narratives built on problem and outcome, and a contact page that lowers the barrier to saying hello.
What was delivered
Outcome
Amber reports enquiries now arrive pre-sold — prospects quote her own about page back to her, and discovery calls start with the project instead of introductions.
“It finally sounds like me on my best day. Clients arrive already convinced.”
